What is a cycle to work scheme?

A cycle-to-work scheme is a government initiative that aims to encourage more people to start cycling to work. By allowing you to get a brand new bike and any chosen cycling accessories tax-free, you can save up to 42% on a bike model of your choice.

How does the cycle to work scheme work?

Taking part in one of our cycle-to-work schemes couldn’t be easier. All you need to do is choose a scheme, choose your bike, get your employer on board and spread the cost by making monthly repayments, which are automatically deducted from your salary.

To get your hands on a Raleigh bike, you have two options to choose from: Electric Bike Access or Cyclescheme. You can find more details of these two schemes below or by giving the team a call on 01773 532636.

Cyclescheme

Like Electric Bike Access, Cyclescheme is an employee benefit that saves you up to 39% on the bike and accessories of your choice. You pay absolutely nothing upfront, and the cost is deducted tax-efficiently from your salary every month by your employer.

It works like this:

Step 1 - Shop

Use the savings calculator to find the package that’s right for you. This will tell you exactly how much each bike is at full retail price, your total savings and what you’ll be paying each month.

Once you’ve chosen your bike (plus accessories) and the amount you’d like to spend, simply chat to your employer to get your unique employer code and visit cyclescheme.co.uk to request a certificate.

When your employer approves your request, Cyclescheme will send a certificate to you.

Step 2 - Complete your order

To complete your order, simply email your chosen products, delivery address and certificate details to cyclescheme@raleigh.co.uk. We’ll confirm, finalise and dispatch your order for you.

Step 3 - Own it at the end

When your hire agreement comes to an end, you can choose whether you’d like to return your bike to Cyclescheme or keep it forever. If you choose to keep it, you’ll just need to make a small additional payment – then it’s yours!

Electric Bike Access - by Raleigh

Electric Bike Access is Raleigh’s own cycle-to-work scheme, giving you the chance to save up to 42% on any Raleigh bike, as well as models by our sister brands Haibike and Lapierre. Everything is done online in a quick, hassle-free process that won’t distract from your workday.

It works like this:

Step 1 - Sign up

Getting started is easy – simply refer your employer or sign up your business by filling in our quick online form. It only takes a few minutes, and we’ll set up your account the very same day.

Step 2 - Log in and shop online

Once your employer has signed up, we’ll send you the details of how to log in. From here, you can choose your bike (plus any accessories you fancy) and submit it to your employer. To check your total savings and work out how much you’ll be paying every month, use our savings calculator.

After your employer approves your order, you can either collect your new bike from one of our partner stores or have it delivered straight to your door – it’s up to you.

Step 3 - Spread the cost

Your bike and accessories will be paid off each month through a salary sacrifice, which is taken out of your paycheck before tax. After 12 months, you can either choose to upgrade to the latest model and start a new rental agreement, or you can sign an agreement to own your bike – at no extra cost.
